Yoga Warmup - Sun Salutations and Breathing

"Changer" Activity:

Students will study "it's" appearance. The student will go outside and change three things about his/her appearance. The other students must try to figure out what was changed.

Explain: We must train ourselves to notice the little things. These little things will add up to help us create unique characters.

Game: Talk or Die

Students must stand in a line and tell them they must speak about a particular topic when you point to them. They must pick up right where the last person left off and speak loudly enough for everyone to hear. If they stumble, pause or do not speak quickly enough then the others may yell "murder" and the student must "die" and stay "dead" until there is only one person standing.

Script Reading: Hoodie: assign numbers and begin the read throught.

09.11.15

Warm Up Dance!

Breathing and Relaxation/Focus Warm UP

Notes:

When acting, the ACTOR must find out what his or her character WANTS! This is the OBJECTIVE. The OBJECTIVE is what drives the story forward.

The OBSTACLE is what stands in the way of the OBJECTIVE!

Tactics or ACTIONS are what the actor
uses to achieve the OBJECTIVE!
Good Examples
  • To scold
  • To taunt
  • To cheer up
  • To scare
  • To bribe
  • To bargain
  • To flirt
  • To corrupt
Not So Good Examples
  • To understand
  • To complicate
  • To imagine
  • To cry
  • To feel
  • To run
  • To YELL!
The not so good examples are DEAD END
actions. Dead end tactics do not work
through the other characters on stage(your
identifiable partner). There is a big difference
between "I am angry at her" (what are you
going to do about it?) and "I want to destroy
her."

One Act Play: Remember your Objective!

Welcome to Drama Class!

Let's Dance it out!

Warmups and Breathing exercises!

Please take your seats! We are going to begin using our bodies to send messages by learning SIGN LANGUAGE!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYhAAMDQl-Q

Please take five minutes and practice sign language with your partner. Can you spell your name?

We will each go around the classroom and spell our name using sign language!

Closing:

Honey if you love me…

The group starts in a circle with one person in the middle.

This person tries to get others to laugh by saying “Honey if you love me you’ll smile.”

The person on the outside must respond without smiling or laughing saying, "Honey, I love you but I just can't smile."

The person in the middle can do various things, without touching anyone, to get another person to smile.

If the person does smile then they will become the center person.
